Congratulations to our second grant recipient of 2026 from the Founders Fund! FCTV was chosen by the Foundation's Board of Directors to receive $2,500.

Faribault Community Television (FCTV) is your nonprofit public access station, dedicated to keeping our community informed, connected, and engaged. From City Council and School Board meetings to monthly community updates, high school sports, local concerts, church services, educational programming and a wide range of other events, FCTV provides a platform for the stories and voices that matter most to Faribault. By showcasing local talent, covering important civic discussions, and broadcasting the traditions that bring us together, FCTV strengthens community ties and ensures that everyone has access to transparent, local programming.

FCTV is run by many different community members including their Executive Director, Troy Temple and the Director of Advancement, Sam Temple. FCTV's Board of Directors includes Adam Bjorklund, Claudia Garcia, Delane James, Chloe Kucera, Gary Lazarz, Jo Mellier, Brad Phenow, Suzy Rook, and Jayne Spooner.

FCTV is intending to use this grant to launch a pilot episode of a children's special. My First Summer in Faribault is a single-episode, approximately eight-minute children's television special produced for Faribault Community Television. The program features a puppet character — an anthropomorphic loon who has just moved to Faribault — narrating a tour of the city's parks, recreation amenities, and free public programs through a series of short location segments. The special is produced in four formats: English, Spanish, Somali, and English with ASL interpretation in the corner. All four formats will air on FCTV and on FCTV's social media platforms, and the production will be shared to the City of Faribault, ISD 656, and Foundation partners for ongoing use in welcome and relocation materials.
