We carried water about a block to wash clothes, can, cook, bathe and for all our household chores.
With her garden and farm raised protein, I don’t ever remember a meal without an ingredient raised on the farm.
Mom served; in the church ladies’ aide, 4-H leader, homemakers club, at a mentally challenged facility and she died only three days after driving a cancer patient 30 miles to chemotherapy. She was 83.
I left home knowing the value of faith, work, education and serving others. I am grateful.
