Let's start the conversation about how a Legacy Gift in your name or in honor of someone you designate,
can make a difference in our community for years to come.

Pelagie Faribault, the mother of our community's founder, was born in 1783 at Prairie du Chien.
Her second marriage after being widowed was to French Canadian fur trader Jean-Baptiste Faribault.
Pelagie and Jean Baptiste had eight children, including Alexander Faribault (born in 1806), the founder of our community. Pelagie is described as an influential and generous person in the Dakota community. She was known to be kind and generous, and she provided hospitality for the friends and neighbors in their social networks. Pelagie died on June 19, 1847. Alexander died in 1882. He and Pelagie and other family members are buried at Calvary Cemetery in Faribault. Contact us to learn how to become a member of the Pelagie Society.
